Confident Beauty
Posted by Aloha Admin on
At ALOHA we’re continuously inspired by the amazing alohis around us. They include the world’s top doctors, nutritionists, homeopaths, Ayurveda practitioners, yogis, spiritual leaders, pro-athletes and entrepreneurs.
We recently had the great privilege of asking beauty icon, artist, badass business woman, wife, mom, and ALOHA Expert, Bobbi Brown, about a life led The ALOHA Way…
What does beauty mean to you?
Confidence
How can we radiate beauty from the inside out?
It starts with making sure we eat the right foods (mostly greens and whole grains). I try to teach women that what we put into our bodies is just as important as what we put on our skin. Drinking tons of water, for example, keeps our organs functioning properly—particularly our largest organ being our skin. Hydrated, healthy skin will glow. And don’t forget exercise, which benefits our bodies and minds.
At ALOHA we believe that happiness comes from attention to the five pillars of Health; Nourish, Move, Relax, Connect and Think.
What do these each mean to you?
Nourish
Eating healthy, lots of greens whenever you can.
Move
As the First Lady says, “Let’s Move.” Anything you can do makes a difference. Exercise is crucial to leading a healthy, balanced life.
Relax
Taking a moment for yourself. Just breathe.
Connect
Spending time with friends and family, people who make you happy, motivate and inspire you. Connecting with yourself is important, too. Meditating only a few minutes a day can help relax your mind and body.
Think
Focus on the positive. Negative thoughts are toxic.
How do you personally find balance across the five pillars?
It isn’t always easy, but if you take small steps, those practices become good habits that eventually become second nature. Eating well was something I incorporated into to my lifestyle slowly as I discovered foods that I enjoy eating that also make me feel good and give me more energy. I switch up exercises based on what my body needs. When things get hectic, I carve out time for myself to relax and recharge. All of this takes practice and patience. It is a constant evolution.
What do you most love about your work?
I love that I get to help empower women to be the best versions of themselves, either through makeup or through the work I do as part of my brand’s Pretty Powerful Campaign for Women & Girls, which empowers women through job skills training programs and girls through education. When you can inspire a woman to be her most confident self, she can do anything.
Yes! Your philanthropic program is thriving, as is your health, and business. Yet somehow you have still managed to prioritize a committed relationship and a family. Any words of advice for alohis who aspire to the same?
Remember to make time for yourself. If you take good care of yourself, you can take better care of others around you. And don’t focus on what you have to do. Spend time doing things you want to do that make you happy.
